Pelican Point Kayak Tour

Embark on a magical kayaking experience on the beautiful Walvis Bay lagoon and in the surrounding waters. Spectacular bird-life will fascinate and captivate both nature lovers and photographers alike.

To start off with, a 40km drive in a 4x4 vehicle takes you past flocks of flamingos, cormorants, pelicans, waders, and a big variety of other seabirds to Pelican Point. Many guest consider this scenic trip just as rewarding as the subsequent kayaking tour.

At Pelican Point you get into your kayak (single and double configurations available) and start paddling past the lighthouse, around Pelican Point, and on to the seal colonies. Excellent bird viewing is available, and delightful seals and Heavyside Dolphins will come to play around your kayak.

This bay framed by the desert and the sea and named Walvis Bay by early British whalers, is a precious gem and today a peaceful haven for marine creatures. The scenery and the animals that have made the bay their home will provide a memory to cherish for a lifetime!

All tours are guided and great emphasis is placed on safety, enjoyment and preservation. Duration: 5 hours, of which kayaking 2 - 2.5 hours

Departure time: 07.45 am. This early start allows for the fact that the wind in Walvis Bay tends to increase around lunch and in the early afternoon. An early start thus provides for maximum kayaking time.
